The new CRONUS license: Demonstration License for Dynamics 365 Business Central

The new demo license is automatically installed when you install the Demo Option. The license gives access to any Business Central application, including the Base Application, and full access to app development.

Properties of the demo license

When the demo license is installed, you can:

  • Start ten simultaneous client sessions on any platform.
  • Create up to two companies.
  • Support an unlimited number of web users.
  • Run in any supported language.
  • Use all application functionality, including add-on products, local extensions and customizations in current and previous versions. This means that you can run and modify all object types within the range 1 to 99,999,999.
  • The new license will only be shipped in .bclicense format and will not be possible to use with older versions of Business Central or NAV.
  • Valid for 10 years from now (no need to update it frequently).
  • You can run automated tests in any period of the year (only the UI has limits on periods).
  • All ranges in the demo license are now open. The new license does allow partners to create an app with IDs in number ranges they don’t have license to in a container or in a development environment. In this case, you can only publish this app to your production environment if you either create a runtime package or you import the CRONUS license to your production environment.
  • The new license will allow you to create a runtime package from a container or an on-premises development environment.
Limitations of the demo license
The demo license doesn't let you enter dates in months other than November, December, January, and February in any Business Central clients.

Why this change?
Partners and developers can now perform the same DevOps tasks in their on-premises or containerized environments using the new demo license, just as they can with Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS sandboxes today (within the limits of other restrictions specific to CRONUS license). They no longer need to update their own license with new and updated ISV objects constantly.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV - Creating and Consuming a Codeunit Web Service

We can create any code unit in Dynamics NAV and publish it as web-service. To do that we need to go to the page (form in 2009)  "Web Services".  In the Web Services page, choose New. In the Object Type column, select Codeunit, then in the Object ID column enter the Codeunit Number, and then enter a name in the Service Name column.
